Kays catalogue

Kays is one of the best known names in the field of mail order catalogue home shopping and was founded in 1974 in Worcester. Kays were a massive brand during the Seventies through to the Nineties, before being bought by another big catalogue player in GUS, who own Argos. Kays catalogues were famous for having specially commissioned artwork on their covers, such as the images of Worcester Cathedral that featured twice in 1974 and again in 1979.

GUS then merged Kays and Littlewoods into one, under the banner of Shop Direct. Kays had a massive depot in the North of England, in Leeds, which opened in 1981, but closed just a few years ago in August 2004.
In February last year, the original Kays depot, in Worcester, closed its doors for the last time. This was due to the new parent company GUS wishing to cut costs and merge Kays with Littlewoods.

Kays is still one of the most recognisable names and images in the home catalogue shopping market and their catalogues represent a trusted brand from which home shoppers can buy a wide range of branded goods.
